Aside from my normal photography blog posts, today I want to discuss a topic which I strongly believe in and want to share. After reading this article about Apple stock on yahoo news (http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/apple-become-trillion-dollar-company-says-altucher-1-124741845.html), I decided to blog about this topic. Almost a decade ago, while I was still in college I worked at the apple store. It’s one of the many jobs I did to support myself through school, and I have to say it was the most fun and educational job experience I’ve ever had. I came from PC background, and switching to Mac ( short term for Apple computer) was difficult, especially when Mac computers back then wasn’t intuitive like Macs now. But I had to switch because all my graphic design classmates were using Macs. Bit my tongue and purchased my first Mac for $3K. Though it was frustrating at first to learn how to use a Mac, a few months later I have become a loyal Mac person. I also bought my first Ipod in 2001, and felt in love with it. It was my perfect companion to ride my bike to school and work, to the gym, and even before I go to bed. Working at the apple store exposed me to all the knowledge base I could learn about Macs. Yet, one thing I regretted that I didn’t learn was buying Apple stock when I was there. Around that time Apple stock was priced at around $10 per share, and with 15% employee discount on Apple stock it would had been less than $9 per share. If I had spent my $3K on Apple stock at $9 per share, my stock would have worth over $110,000 by now. 🙁 Wish I knew. Ten years have passed, and finally I got into stock after I learned that my brother has bought a large sum of Apple stock at the price of $75 per share 2-3 years ago. Though it may be a bit late now to get into Apple stock at the current price of around $330-350 per share, I’m happy to say I now own Apple stock. At the current price of $350 per share, it may seem to be high, but in the long run the outlook and future of Apple seems to be bright. Almost all the people I know own an iphone and/or an ipad, and most photographers and designers use Macs. Apple has revolutionized the world and forever changed people lives. It’s a giant that keeps growing stronger and bigger every year. The company is now worth over $300 billions – that’s $300,000,000,000 (wow!!!). As of now it has surpassed Microsoft and Cisco to be the most valuable tech company in the world. At the current growth rate Apple is heading, in a few years Apple will be worth more than 2 trillions as investor James Altucher of Formula Capital has pointed out in the above provided link. Therefore, I truly believe that Apple stock is a great buy and a must have in any stock portfolio.
Wish I had extra money to invest too!
